Water Watch Program

The East Central Florida RC&D assists the Orange County Utilities Water Division with the Water Watch Program.

Water Watch personnel patrol residential and commercial neighborhoods in unincorporated Orange County to look for watering violations.  When a violation is found, a photo is taken and a door hanger is left to advise the violator of the importance of complying with the water conservation ordinance.

Water Watch patrollers also give Orange County residents instructions regarding their irrigation controllers, show them how to reset their irrigation systems, and help residents identify wasteful watering due to broken sprinkler heads, misdirected spray heads, etc. In addition, Water Watch personnel complete free irrigation audits when needed to determine the efficiency of an irrigation system – thus helping residents who have received violation notices to conserve water.
